Mark D’Antonio was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Maryland as a teenager. He attended high
school in Maryland and upon graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training, Mark was assigned to the military police squadron at
Lackland Air Force Base. He was soon selected to fill an instructor position at the Military Police Academy and taught legal ethic and military justice to young military police recruits.
Following his honorable discharge from the armed forces, Mark attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with honors and obtained degrees
in both political science and economics. In 1987, Mark was accepted to the University of Maryland School of Law where he was recognized for outstanding voluntary legal work.
Upon graduation from law school, Mark pursued a life long dream and joined the FBI as a Special Agent. He was assigned to the Washington D.C. field office
where he worked both criminal and foreign counterintelligence matters. Mark specialized in the detection of
and attempted recruitment by foreign government intelligence agents. He was a frequent speaker at civilian
and military police training academies on police tactics, covert investigation, and criminal and constitutional law.
In 1989, Mark resigned from the FBI to work as an attorney/advisor to then Attorney General Janet Reno at
the Department of Justice. Mark’s responsibilities included representing the United States before the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court and assisting the FBI and other intelligence agencies on
antiterrorism and counterintelligence programs. During Mark’s tenure at the Department of Justice, he
received letters of commendation from Attorney General Reno, and FBI Directors William S. Sessions and
Louis J. Freeh. Also during that time, Mark was tasked to assist the United States Attorney’s Office in
Washington D.C. which was overwhelmed with criminal trials. Mark successfully prosecuted numerous criminal trials and was responsible for hundreds of cases.
In July 1997, Mark was hired by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, assigned
to the Las Cruces Branch Office. Mark was excited about the move from the east coast to New Mexico
because it had always been his desire to leave the hustle and bustle of the big city and live and work in a
family-orientated community such as Las Cruces. For the past 10 years, Mark has been litigating criminal
cases in federal court. His range of experience includes but is not limited to, immigration, narcotics
trafficking, murder, kidnaping, prison escapes, Arms Export Control, public corruption, Racketeering
Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) and Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering. Mark enjoys a good
reputation in Las Cruces with law enforcement, the legal community and the judiciary. He takes pride in being recognized as an honorable and successful criminal litigator.
Mark has also been a faculty member of the University of Phoenix specializing in criminal law. He has also
taught at NMSU as a substitute instructor. In early 2007, Mark decided that after 25 years of government
service it was time to leave and to provide the citizens of Las Cruces with dependable and compassionate representation.
